USA Youth Champs - Day 6 Updates

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Updates from day six of the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Long jump

Revolution Express Track Club's Mackenzie Arnold edged out pentathlon and high jump champ Margaux Jones by a quarter of an inch to win the youth girls' long jump with a mark of 5.43m/17-9.75.
Marcus Krah of the Durham Striders swept the horizontal jumps with his victory in the youth boys' long jump with a jump of 6.43m/21-1.25.

High jump
Stefan Johnson of the Eastside Steppers sailed over 2.00m/6-6.75 to take the win in the young men's high jump.

Shot put
Valarie Allman was a double winner in the throws with her winning throw of 11.29m/37-0.50 intermediate girls' shot put.

Hammer throw
Jackie Leppelmeier took home her first title of the meet with a toss of 46.86m/153-9 in the young women's hammer throw.

Javelin throw
Rockwall Mustangs Track Club's Hunter Hopkins struggled with fouls, but launched a 50.66m/166-2 throw to win the intermediate boys' javelin throw.

100m
Kassidy Jones of Track Xplosion ran a 15.99 to win the sub-bantam girls 100m. Alpha Omega's Anthony Beliard won on the boys side with his time of 15.38.
Northern Virginia Athletic Association athlete Kayla Hugg was the champion in the bantam girls 100m, finishing in 13.92. James Smith of the Los Angeles Jets came out on top of the bantam boys' 100m competitors, clocking a 13.23.
Quiet Fire's Lauren Williams took home her second gold medal of the meet with a win in the midget girls' 100m with a time of 12.59. Christian Braswell continued Fasst Track's sprint dominance with a win in the midget boys' 100m in a time of 12.96.
Rate of Motion's Aliyah Abrams bounced back from her second place finish in the 200m to win the youth girls' 100m, running 12.48. Anthony Mcfarland followed up his 200m win with a win in the youth boys' 100m with a time of 11.53.
Marybeth Sant of the Colorado Flyers ran a 12.14 on her way to the win in the intermediate girls 100m. Kendal Williams of the 1st Coast Track Club dominated the short sprints, running a 10.73 to win the intermediate boys' title.
Priscilla Harts ran a 12.09 in the young women's 100m to edge out Shekara Martin by one hundredth of a second for the win. Khalfani Muhammad cruiser to the win in the young men's 100m with his time of 10.76.

Pole vault
Brett Squibbs cleared 4.75m/15-7 to beat out the young mens' pole vaulters by a foot.

400m hurdles
Artie Burns of the Miami Northwest Express Track Club won the intermediate boys' 400m hurdles by three seconds, finishing with a time of 52.23.
Track Phi Track's Michael Smith ran a 53.16 on her way to the win in the young men's 400m hurdles.
Kimani Austin-Reese won Miami Northwest Express Track Club a second 400m hurdles title as she ran 1:01.51 to win the the intermediate girls' division.
Kendra Harrison of Evolution Track Club ran away with the win in the young women's 400m hurdles in a time of 58.34.

200m hurdles

Jaela Williams of the California Rising Stars ran a 27.32 to capture the youth girls' 200m hurdles victory.
Jeremy Griffis of the Durham Striders edged out Chad Zallow by five hundredths of a second to win the youth boys' 200m hurdles in 25.81.
